Exhibition Opening – Saturday 25 November 2017 1.30 – 4.00pm

There has certainly been no ‘taking it easy’ in front of the wood fire for Darren Gilbert over winter. Battling the elements from his studio at Highlands, near Yea, Darren has spent the past months covered in rust & dirt by day – designing and forging his sculptural creations, then dusting himself off to work at his drawing board with fine ink pens and pristine illustration board by night.

The comparison between the two mediums is a stark and exciting contrast – the common passion that inherently links the works reveals a talented artist, designer and engineer who is constantly inspired by the Australian landscape, native flora and fauna. Mind you when the view from your studio is as good as Darren’s, who wouldn’t be moved by the grandeur of the landscape!
